2008 SUZUKI M109R BOULEVARD
This bike is in excellent condition with 21488km on the clock, The 2008 Suzuki Boulevard M109R is a formidable power cruiser motorcycle that carved a niche for itself with its aggressive styling and potent performance. It continued the M109R line that Suzuki introduced in 2006, quickly becoming a flagship model in their Boulevard range.
At its heart lies a massive 1783cc (108.8 cubic inch), liquid-cooled, DOHC, 54-degree V-twin engine. This powerhouse was designed for strong throttle response and rapid acceleration, delivering impressive horsepower (around 123-128 hp at 6,200 rpm) and substantial torque (approximately 118 lb-ft at 3,200 rpm). This engine was mated to a 5-speed manual transmission with a shaft final drive, providing a smooth and reliable transfer of power to the massive rear wheel. For 2008, the fuel injection system was reportedly upgraded, and the headlight design was changed to a new trapezoidal multi-reflector with a streamlined look.
Visually, the 2008 M109R was a head-turner. It boasted a distinctive, muscular, and streamlined design, with styling cues often compared to Suzuki's championship-winning GSX-R sportbikes, particularly in its rear-end design which also drew inspiration from the Hayabusa. Key features included a new streamlined headlight cover, a low-slung profile, and a wide, 240mm rear tire that emphasized its powerful stance. It rode on a high-tensile double cradle steel frame, with an inverted telescopic fork at the front and a link-type, preload-adjustable single shock absorber at the rear. Braking was handled by dual hydraulic discs at the front and a single hydraulic disc at the rear.
The M109R offered a commanding riding position with a relatively low seat height of around 27.8 inches, making it accessible to a range of riders despite its substantial wet weight of approximately 764 lbs. While praised for its straight-line acceleration and "two-wheeled dragster" feel, its handling was often described as firm, and the wide rear tire could make cornering less nimble than sportier machines. However, for its class, it was considered to have commendable handling and braking.
The 2008 model year saw some variations, including the M109R, M109R2 (which featured a slightly different headlight nacelle), and sometimes a Limited Edition with distinct paint schemes. It was known for its robust aftermarket support, allowing owners to customize their bikes extensively. Overall, the 2008 Suzuki M109R was, and continues to be, recognized as a powerful and stylish muscle cruiser that offers a thrilling riding experience.
